Doing things the hard way - Fitness equipment that isn't fitness equipment
Before people "worked out", they just worked.
Most resistance workouts are just too boring and unrewarding for me. Spending hours just pushing and pulling weights around while accomplishing nothing feels wasteful and monotonous. But there are lots of tasks around the house that used to be hard work before technology made it easier. So instead of using a bunch of noisy, polluting, gas-powered lawn equipment, I went "old-school". First I mow the lawn with my American Lawnmower Company push-mower, then I rake the trimmings onto the sidewalk, and finally I use a push-broom to sweep the trimmings into a pile and then into my compost bin. Altogether it takes a couple of hours and by the end I've not only gotten a full-body workout, but I have a nice even lawn to show for all the effort I put in. I do this once a week from April to October.
