Yo quiero Taco Bell
I want Taco Bell
But, in my wife's house, I mean in my house, it's more like this:
Mi esposa quiere Taco Bell
My wife wants Taco Bell
We don't eat out at fast food places much anymore but sometimes it's just unavoidable. And like I said my wife's fast food of choice is of course Taco Bell.
This challenge is about finding low calorie fast food. Taco Bell has a lot of menu choices for a low calorie meal.
My menu choice at Taco Bell is the
Chicken Power Bowl.
Power Bowl:
Nutrition:
The Chicken Power Bowl contains approximately:
470 calories
18 grams of fat
50 grams of carbohydrates
26 grams of protein
1230 mg of sodium1
Cost:
The cost of a Chicken Power Bowl is around $5.69
Prices may vary slightly depending on the location.
Ingredients
The Power Bowl includes:
Grilled chicken
Seasoned rice
Black beans
Lettuce
Tomatoes
Cheddar cheese
Guacamole
Reduced-fat sour cream
Avocado ranch sauce
It’s a well-rounded meal with a good balance of protein, carbs, and fats, making it a healthier option compared to many other fast food items.
The thing is, I am on a high protein low carb way of life, I try not to call it a diet.
Not only to control my weight but to keep my blood sugar controlled too.
Therefore, I customize the Power Bowl to meet my needs. I don't like the seasoned rice so I order it without the seasoned rice thus lowering calories and carbs. I double the chicken to provide more protein. I further customize my order to be Fresco Style. Ordering a menu item "fresco style" means that cheese, sour cream, mayo-based sauces, and other high-calorie and high-fat toppings like guacamole are switched out for diced tomatoes. This is a great, easy swap for anyone on a special diet, anyone wanting a low-calorie meal, or anyone that can't have dairy. This customization helps reduce the calorie and fat content of the meal. Guacamole is a healthy fat source, therefore I like to keep the guacamole in my customized Power Bowl.
Therefore my order is a Fresco Style Chicken Power Bowl with double chicken, no rice, and keep the guacamole:
Nutritional Values of my customized Power Bowl:
Calories: Approximately 380 calories
Protein: About 52 grams
Fat: Around 17 grams
Carbohydrates: Approximately 13 grams
Sodium: Around 980 mg
Cost Breakdown:
Base Price: $5.69
Extra Chicken: +$1.60
Total Cost: Approximately $7.29
Ingredients:
Double Grilled Chicken
Black Beans
Lettuce
Tomatoes
Onions
Pico de Gallo
Guacamole
This customized bowl provides a high-protein, balanced meal with the added flavor and healthy fats from the guacamole. This customized bowl tastes very good and is filling. I get an iced tea with lemon to go with my meal.
So if you want a low calorie fast food meal, I recommend my customized Chicken Power Bowl at Taco Bell.
