My favorite wildflower has always been Queen Anne's Lace, even though as a kid it signified the end of summer was near (QAL blooms in late July where I live). Just today I learned Queen Anne's Lace is also known as wild carrot AND it is edible! In fact, the entire QAL plant is edible.
• roots are similar to carrot but have less flavor
• dried seed head can be used in teas
• add QAL flowers to salads
• leaves can be minced and used as a spice
• stems can be eaten when peeled
