For example, a product labeled as having 200 calories could actually contain anywhere from 160 to 240 calories and still be within regulatory guidelines. Similarly, nutrient values can also have some degree of variation, though the exact allowances can depend on the nutrient in question. Nutrients that are present in amounts less than 0.5 grams per serving can be labeled as "0" on food labels. There are probably similar allowances in other countries.
