Perhaps this is a clichéd choice but of all the games I ever played FF7 is still the one that sticks out.
There have been other games I have enjoyed, even loved, but FF7 was the first game I ever played where I became immersed in the game completely. As a kid, FF7 was probably the 1st real RPG I ever played so the game play itself was unique, turn based fighting, an elaborate skill/magic casting attachment system, epic summons complete with what was at the time amazing graphics. A cimlnemtic score which is still hummable today. Enjoyable mini games, a sense of scale that until then had never before been encountered. And all of that wrapped up in a story which drew you in completely. I'm not sure if there will ever be another game quite as impactful to an entire generation. Of course you can point to space invaders or pac man or Mario beforehand but since I'm not sure. Long live FFVII
