It Takes Two - You + Who? 👫🏼👭👬

 

I had been searching for a game for my partner and I to play in which skill/excessive amounts of previous playtime was not a factor and It Takes Two fits this bill to a tee!

 

It Takes Two tells the story of a couple on the verge of separation. When they break this news to their daughter, they quickly find themselves in a therapy session gone to the extreme! Through the magic of video games, they are shrunken down to a microscopic size and in order to reverse this process, they must work together to tackle the world and the challenges they encounter. It's a highly extended metaphor that leads to gameplay that includes both some humorous moments as well as ones that make one pause and reflect on their own personal relationships. 

 

The action is always exciting and enticing for the players and you really don't want to experience it alone! Sequences include moments of minigames, riddles, puzzles, platforming, and lots of collective problem-solving. There is always a new twist or turn with the gameplay's mechanics, just when you think you have it all figured out. It truly seems like it was constructed for those of us with attention spans of a goldfish! 

 

Another one of my favourite elements was the overall visual and creativity exemplified by the level designers. The characters venture through every possible environment throughout the game. You will want to traverse through all that can be seen, in order to progress to the next brilliantly decorated scene! One of my personal highlights in this area, without spoiling much, was the medieval RPG style segment where you make your way through a stunningly designed castle together. 

 

The only Pro tip I can offer for this game is sincerely that you have to work with whoever you are playing beside in order to succeed. Not getting too far ahead of one another allows you both to figure out the game and experience all the superbly designed worlds have to offer at the same time! 

 

I cannot recommend this game enough! If you are looking for a casual but rewarding gaming experience with someone you enjoy gaming with, consider investing in It Takes Two. I promise it was worth it for me, it'll be worth it for you.
