Animal Crossing has been out since April 14th 2001. First being released in Japan, it was bound to get popular. Many people loved the first and the latest version, and I so happen to be one of those people who fell in love with the game at first sight. I struggled when I was younger with getting along with people, and would struggle with communication. Being autistic was looked down apon more than today, so often I was judged over that. One Christmas my family got me a Nintendo, and the first game was Animal Crossing. These characters couldn't see me in real life. They didn't know I was "disabled", and they didn't know how I truly looked. My character was who I aspired to be, and they loved me for it! I even got to build foundations with these characters and through it all my own island was there for me. Even other characters on other islands were there for me. So while now Animal Crossing is looked at as a "Calming Indie Aesthetic Game", I view it as The Game that I Could Call Home when I Didn't Feel Home. That's why Animal Crossing is my favorite game. It was a support mechanism in which helped me get where I am now. :]
