Kung fu Panda 4 was mid

I watched Kung fu Panda 4 yesterday with my friends, and it was really mid. As someone who never watched Kung Fu Panda before, I don't have any particular attachement to any characters and I won't make a comparison between this movie and the last 3 that came out before.

Firstly, the animation is great! Everything is dynamic, the combat is fluid and the colors are vivid, the animation is by far the best aspect of the movie. 

The villain's power is also very interesting and I like her design, she is dominant and powerful.

However, the villain is never fleshed out and falls flat, because she doesn't really have a distinct motive in this movie except : "be powerful and dominate the world etc", which is a shame, and this problem is directly linked to the plot, because the entire plot itself is not fleshed out. Couldn't this movie be longer? Why is everything going so fast ? Some scenes could last longer to make a better transition, some others scenes are very unnecessary... And it's pretty ironic, because most of the movie is not even trying to build a plot, but to insert "comedy" into the movie, which doesn't work very well, except if you are a child. 

the intro is filled with jokes, and as someone who didn't find this movie funny, the intro was a torture for me.

The plot is also not fleshed out because the plot is very unoriginal, which makes the villain and the other new characters also very bland in terms of personality. It's cliché, the plot twists are so obvious and these character tropes has been seen is hundreds of movies already, which makes me question, why does this movie even exist?

I did like some characters, like the parents of the Panda dude, they were cute and the only lines that I considered funny were from theses two characters. 

I did have a good time watching the movie though, because I was watching it with my friends, but when you dig in further you realize that the movie seems to only be a cash grab that doesn't really add that much depth into the lore of the franchise. The story is not memorable and it's own existence seems to be vanity.
