Apothecary Diaries (Anime)

So I'm officially obsessed with this anime now 😆 It's a sortof mystery/romcom/drama set in a fictional country based on Tang-Dynasty China.

It follows Maomao, an apothecary who gets kidnapped and sold to the emperor's palace. As much as she wants to keep her nose down and not get noticed, she can't help but solve the mystery of the emperor's heirs dying as infants, which understandably gets her super noticed lol. She ends up under the protection of a powerful eunuch, Jinshi, who makes her an unofficial detective and gives her mysteries to solve.

The characters and their dynamics are alot of fun, and the political intrigue makes the mysteries that much more complex. I especially like the concubine Gyoukuyo - she's very practical and perceptive without being scheming.
