Common Poppy (Papaver rhoeas) is a tough plant, widespread in hedge rows and fields throughout the British countryside during the spring early summer months. This bright and bold flower has been seen in Britain as far back as the Bronze Age.

Known as the Remembrance Poppy, the blood-red of the Poppies mirroring the atrocities of war. Its association with blood and new life harks back to the Egyptians and Romans who made garlands of Common poppies to celebrate the gods and ensure the fertility of their crops.
