Hollyhocks (Alcea Rosea) are often thought of as perennial plants, as they tend to come back year after year. But they are short-lived perennials, meaning they usually live for between two and five years. They like a bright spot with full sun, and do not tolerate shade well. They will flourish in a south or west-facing position.
Hollyhocks are not toxic to dogs, but can cause mild GI symptoms. Skin and oral irritation possible.
