10 mins of light to medium cardio to get the legs moving before lifting
Barbell squat
Set 1: warm up weight (around 40% of your max) x10 reps
Set 2: 60% of your max x 8-10 reps
Set 3: 80% of your max x 6-8 reps
Set 4: Max x 3-8 reps (sometimes you'll surprise yourself
Set 5: 90% of your max x 5-8 reps
I alternate barbell squat and leg press each leg day. Same number of sets and reps on leg press.
MEGA SET (All of the next 3 exercises are done together as 1 set. Leg extension, standing calf raises, and leg curls)
Leg extension machine + standing calf raises + leg curls
Set 1: Warm up x 10 reps
Set 2: 50% of your max x 10 reps
Set 3: 70% of your max x 10 reps
Set 4: 100% max x 5-8 reps
The mega set will gas you and your legs will tell you that you put in the work the following day or 2 when DOMS set in.
Usually I include shoulders (all three heads for 5 sets 5-10 reps) and dumbbell shrugs for 5 sets 7-10 reps.
