In order ti improve your abdominal muscle mass and strenght there are many exercises you can do.
However i do think that continuity in doing the exercises is the most important thing.
Another relevan factor is lipidic mass ratio, indeed many people give up because the results are not visible in a fist sight.
Hence it is important to combine a good lifestyle, including healt diet and constant exercize in order to develop the abs muscle of our dreams.
My favourite exercise does not require any equipment, it just consists in keeping the body position as follows:
