So, as you you can see, I do not exactly possess a ripped and shredded 6 Pack of abdominals. In fact im 20+% BF (and coming down well thanks) and even have a hit of an umbilical hernia. So, why then am I making thia post. Well other than to fulfil the "Share Your Workout Tips #4 Event" requirements. Well I would argue that perhaps my tip is the most important for the majority of people to hear, as I suspect the majority, like me, do not possess a ripped and shredded 6 pack. If this applies to you, well, here is my tip....DO NOT DO AB WORKOUTS. Ab exclusive focused workouts will not get you a six pack, in fact until you get your BF% down enough nothing will. Ab workouts in general do not burn enough calories to make a significant dent on your weight or bodyfat. By all means incorporate them into your overall routine for general health, remembering to be careful if like me you have a hernia. However the best bang for your buck would be cardio and plenty of it. In fact walking does a great job of burning fat. Yes it does not burn as many calories as running, however due to its lower intensity it does burn more fat as a percentage of the total calories burned and because its low-intensity you can go for longer. This works even better fasted when the body is glucose deprived and needs to liberate your own fat stores to use as fuel. Resistance training, to build some muscle, will also work well as you will increase your BMR (basal metabolic rate) and burn more calories in the long run by creating a higher demand even at rest. Of course nutrition is another huge element buy I won't get into opening that can of worms.
So in summary, to see good abs, don't focus on your abs, focus on decreasing your BF% first. Cheers
