Squats are a functional and effective lower body exercise suitable for all fitness levels, including beginners and athletes. Variations include back squats, where a bar is held across the back, with two ways to hold it: high or low.
A high bar squat is a back squat with the bar placed high on the shoulder muscle, requiring an upright torso position and forward knee movement to maintain balance and proper squatting.
A low bar squat is a back squat position with the bar placed low on the upper back, resting on the posterior deltoid. To maintain balance, bend at the hips and lean forward to prevent backward fall.
